Welcome back again folks. Today I’ve got another story for you which is actually quite similar to last one believe it or not. I actually got this job as a referral from the owner of the website that I talked about in my previous post.
You see, he was so impressed with the job I did that he recommended me to his friends. And it turns out, that accountants know other accountants. He put me in touch with a chap who was based in Helston, cornwall – a small town that nonetheless still needs good accountants with perfectly functioning websites.
I was really grateful for the opportunity, and I knew that I could do a good job – The previous job had gone very well and I had learnt a lot from the experience. For instance, I know knew that websites catering accountants need to be laid out in a certain way, and have the company address and number prominent throughout the site.
The conversation we had on the phone went pretty well. Although, one hiccup was that he wanted me to come down to meet him before we seal the deal and I begin working. I’m not too sure why he requested this, but sometimes it does happen. It is understandable that people like to meet whoever they are about to employ and hand over money to. But often this problem can be overcome by something simple like having a video Skype chat. Despite this I agreed to travel down to meet him, as the price I had quoted was quite large, and in all honesty cornwall wasn’t too far away from me.
Our meeting went well but the undoubtedly the best thing about it was the financial advice he gave me at the end. I didn’t once ask for this, but I think he felt obliged to help me as I had provided him with so much value throughout our meeting. This advice was literally priceless and he gave me a few great tips that I could implement in my business straight away. I strongly advise you do exactly what I did – figure out a way you can help a local accountant and he will repay you handsomely.
